Things are stirring in the world again. With the exception of a few places, there seems to be a new sense of life coming back to the everyday goings-on in the world. I hope that no matter where you are that you are feeling the same way.

This spring we jumped all-in to the gardening world. We've tried it in years past and have gotten mixed results. For every overwhelming mountain of tomatoes and cucumbers we grew, there was a barren patch of potatoes, onions, and carrots. Two things have changed this year though. Shawn and I have been actively involved in the garden. The weed patches are gone and a very nice assortment of vegetables are showing signs of promise.

Today's picture is the blossom on one of our potato plants. Unfortunately, that may be all we get. In our unrestrained fervor for a garden, we may not have followed the rules of perfect planting. For instance, our carrot bed looks amazing. However, we have since found out that we have been watering too much and the soil was prepared incorrectly. BAH! Additionally, our handling of the potato crop has also been problematic. Again, I say BAH! I may have to just enjoy the solitary flower and wait another year for my plate of homegrown mashed potatoes.

Updates on the carrots and potatoes to come later. Fingers crossed the updates will be good. If not, we have the promise of a new spring in the coming months.
