October 21, 2020

I wanted to say hello to you all with the sincerest hope that all is as well as can be. The happenings of 2020 are certainly being felt by many these days. The multi-headed monster of uncertainty is flying unchecked and unrestrained, and it's wearing us to a nub. Enough of that for now. We have enough doom and gloom, and I'd love to be a peddler of optimism and cheer. It's not always easy, is it?

The picture above was taken at dawn near Malin Head on the Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal on December 3, 2013. I had made a tremendous plan for the day that proved to have accounted for everything but one thing, something completely out of my control. My idea was to "race" the sun from Malin Head to Mizen Head in West Cork by experiencing sunrise in the north and watching the sun fall into the Atlantic deep in West Cork at the Mizen Head Signal Station. Very much like things today, my plan didn't have a chance. Maybe I'll share the whole story over the coming weeks.
