The little tower in the picture is Copper Point which sits at the northeast end of Long Island near the entrance to Schull Harbour. Expanding out even further, this remarkably beautiful area sits at the southwest tip of Ireland fully exposed to the storms of the North Atlantic. Over the years this 52 foot (16 meters) lighthouse has withstood storms and winds of unimaginable fury. The powerful waves crashing against and over the tower doing its best to guide sailors to safety.
The choices we make resemble this small lighthouse. Standing next to the tower, it seems massive. The choices we make in our lives seem just as huge. Stepping back and looking over the sea to the tower diminishes how our eyes see it. If it wasn't sitting on the edge of the rocks, it would barely be visible. Our choices become that way to people around us and the world in general. Our choice in the small world we live in is insignificant in the larger picture.
The storms we face because of our choice can be powerful and destructive. We have to find the courage to carry on when the times seem bleak. If our choice was made with a sound foundation, then we must continue on just like this small lighthouse in a much larger world.
Finding the strength to meekly and gracefully withstand the fury is the key to it all.
